I'm sad to say I have no pictures to give you evidence of how great their performance was, but sadly, I do not. You'll have to use your imaginations! We had 45 Peace Squad students in our performance today. Some had stars upon thars, and some did not, they went through a "Star On/Star Off Machine," beautifully decorated by our favorite librarian, Ms. Flowers. But the best part, was at the end, when...
"...I’m quite happy to say.
That the Sneetches got really quite smart on that day.
The day they decided that Sneetches are Sneetches.
And no kind of Sneetch is the best on the beaches.
That day, all the Sneetches forgot about stars and whether
They had one, or not, upon thars."
And our very own Silas McLellan tied it all together with a beautifully written speech at the end:
"The reason we put this skit on for you was to demonstrate that you appearances are miniscule compared to personalities. The star bellied sneetches thought they were better than the plain bellied sneetches, but really, once they grasped that what they looked like on the outside didn't matter, they began to realize that no one individual is better than another by what they look like. The african americans were thought of as lesser people but really, the name callers were the “lesser” ones. As Martin Luther King Jr said, “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.” Thank You"
These kids are what school counselor's dreams are made of!
