The Peace Squad went on the road today to perform for the entire Venable Elementary School student body. Over the past few weeks, they wrote and directed their own scripts, giving up recess and lunch in the cafeteria numerous times to practice. They are a dedicated, responsible bunch! Some students wrote scripts that shared what the Peace Squad does, what bullying is, why it's important to refrain from bullying, and why it's important to help other students who are being bullied. They then performed skits showing the 6 approaches to helping out if they are witnesses to bullying. They were flawless on stage, remembering their lines, speaking loud and clear, and spreading the word about being kind and helping others. I am very, very proud of them. I want to extend a special thank you to Mr. U, School Counselor at Venable, for inviting us, and to Venable Principal, Erin Kershner, and her kind staff for the warm welcome. The student body was an excellent audience.
To reward them for their hard work, we were treated to breakfast at BODOS! We want to extend a huge thank you to Chuck Lebo of Lebo Commercial Properties (my dad) for funding this breakfast for all 26 Peace Squad kids. And Bodos handled our rush well, as they always do.
The kids have expressed interest in going on the road again to other elementary schools in the area. I'll be reaching out to other schools to see who is interested!
